Give Food

Non-perishable food items, basic hygiene and cleaning supplies are always appreciated for our Food Bank.  These items can be donated at donation bins/barrels located at:

  • The porch entrance of Pelham Cares – 191 Highway #20 E, Fonthill
  • The exit of Food Basics – 130 Highway #20 E, Fonthill
  • The exit of Sobey’s – 110 Highway #20 W, Fonthill
  • The exit of Giant Tiger – 20 Highway #20 E, Fonthill
  • The customer service desk at the Fonthill Meridian Community Centre – 100 Meridian Way, Fonthill

Our Most Needed Items change from time to time, but any nutritious, non-perishable staple food items, essential hygiene items and simple cleaning supplies are always welcome donations.

Give Useful Items

Pelham Cares does not have a Thrift Store, and kindly asks that you do not place clothes, books, furniture or household items in the Food donation bins.  Along with non-perishable food, basic hygiene and cleaning supplies, Pelham Cares accepts specific items for Youth Programs (children’s new school supplies and backpacks) and for Seasonal Programs at relevant times of the year (warm coats and accessories; children’s new pyjamas and new/unwrapped toys).

Any other items are not accepted at this time. Before bringing in items for donation, please contact us at 905-892-5300. Thank you.

Organize a Food Drive

We appreciate efforts to collect items for our Food Bank on our behalf at any time of the year.  Over the years, many community groups, schools, organizations and events have come together to fill our shelves with a Food Drive, and we are so grateful.  Please consider that our volunteers are called upon to receive and sort large amounts of food after a food drive, so we ask that you:

01.

Contact Pelham Cares before you organize a Food Drive so that we can coordinate volunteers with the dates of your planned event.

02.

Refer to our Most Needed Items list.

03.

Consider using your own totes or boxes to collect the items (smaller, sturdy boxes and totes or reuseable bags are the best, so that our volunteers can easily lift them).

04.

Consider delivering the food items and/or helping us offload the items inside the Food Bank (i.e. bring your helpers) if at all possible.

As always, thank you for your support!

Volunteer

Pelham Cares is a relatively small organization, located in a very generous community. Our volunteers typically work in teams and have specific tasks and responsibilities including receiving food donations, helping in the Food Bank, driving clients as part of the Medical Drive Program, fundraising, maintaining the facility and more.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer with Pelham Cares, please send a brief email to info@pelhamcares.org requesting the most recent volunteer opportunities.
