On Saturday October 1st, the Diamonds and Denim Barn Dance was held at Bissell's Hideaway.  A SOLD OUT fundraising event by Pelham Cares!

150 attendees enjoyed food by Smokin' Buddha and Family of 3 Catering, and entertainment by Tom Bishop Jr., and Elton Lammie and his band.  A whiskey tasting, popcorn and candy bar, prize draws and a fantastic Western Penny Sale rounded out the evening!

This evening would not have been the success it was without our sponsors (below), donors, volunteers and staff.  The funds raised will support our three programs; Food Bank, Youth Services, and Transportation.

Thank you to all who supported, assisted and of course attended!  And stay tuned...for an announcement regarding 2017....will this be an annual event?!

Leadership Award 2016

At the annual OAFB Conference, Pelham Cares was presented with the 2016 Leadership Award!

Awarded  “In honour of your exemplary leadership in your community and dedication to hunger-relief initiatives”.   Key factors that resulted in our receiving this award were:

  1. The ability of Pelham Cares to sustain itself for over 30 years as a volunteer based organization.
  2. Our support of and cooperation with other like organizations in the Niagara Region (ie. Hope Centre, Open Arms Mission, Project Share, etc.).
  3. Our reaching out to secure grants and involvement of local farmers and individuals, to provide a healthier food basket to our client families.
  4. The direction and effort expended  to secure a permanent facility,  ensuring our long term sustainability.

Congratulations and gratitude goes to all of the present and past leaders of Pelham Cares!  Those who have provided direction and support  which has been critical to our accomplishments, and support we have provided to hundreds of families in our community!

Ever Bearing Ever Caring Garden Dedication

The Ever Bearing Ever Caring Garden, dedicated Friday July 15th, by members of the Rotary Club of Fonthill (Paul Allen and Mel Groom , left back & front), Youth Resource Centre (Mike Young, back centre), and Pelham Cares (Colleen McCarthy and Jane Gilmour, front centre & right).

The garden has become a reality as a result of contributions and efforts of the Rotary Club of Fonthill, Youth Resources Centre, Rice Road Greenhouses and RBC Dominion Securities Foundation. Thank you to all of those involved! Our client families will enjoy the healthy produce included in their food hampers this summer and fall!

And congratulations to Eleanor Stasiw for submitting the winning name for our new garden!

This is OUR way of saying thanks!  Click Here

Dear Pelham Cares,

I would like to extend my gratitude and appreciation for all of the food donations and financial assistance that Pelham Cares has provided to myself and my three children. As a single parent, employment income must stretch to provide necessities of living but with Pelham Cares generous assistance, I feel that our quality of life is improved through food availability and the children's organized activities. My youngest child has had the privilege of participating in swimming lessons due to the help from Pelham Cares. Many holidays have been more relaxed and happy knowing that I have had a family meal that is healthy and makes our time together full of fond memories. At back to school time, which previously had been a financially stressful time, Pelham Cares has provided my children with backpacks including supplies needed to be successful students. I have always informed my children of the contributions of Pelham Cares in their activities and we all, as a family, feel extremely thankful that this wonderful organization exists to provide much needed assistance to the Pelham community.
