Celebrating National Volunteer Week

And 35 Years of Service

Thank YOU to our Dedicated Volunteers!

The week of April 15th to 22nd, 2018 has been proclaimed National Volunteer Week,  a time to celebrate and thank Canada’s 12.7 million volunteers! This is also an opportunity to reflect back on our history and acknowledge Pelham Cares volunteers past and present, as we celebrate 35 years of serving the Town of Pelham!

Volunteer Canada has chosen this year’s theme as “Celebrate the Value of Volunteering – building confidence, competence, connections and community”. Volunteering is often seen as a selfless act; a person gives their time, skills, experience, and passion to help others, without expecting anything in return. And while volunteering is a form of service, many volunteers will tell you that “you get more than you give”. From opportunities to develop new skills, to finding deep and meaningful personal connections, the magic of volunteering is that it creates social and economic value for all….for individuals, families, organizations, and neighbourhoods.

At Pelham Cares, hundreds of individuals have contributed their time over 35 years in numerous roles, as volunteers and donors. Families have joined us at the annual Food Drive, and organized or participated in events run on our behalf. Organizations such as local businesses, social clubs, churches and schools, have contributed by running events, and providing food or financial donations. And all of this in support of our mission…Helping Residents of Pelham Help Each Other!

Without our amazing volunteers, Pelham Cares would not have been able to provide much-needed services in our Community for THIRTY FIVE years.  On behalf of the Board of Directors of Pelham Cares I wish to take this opportunity, during National Volunteer Week, to thank all of our volunteers for their dedication and commitment to Pelham Cares and those we serve.
